Micronesia Congress Vice Speaker Visits CSCEC Science and Industry

On December 17, Wang Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of China Construction Science and Industry Construction Limited (“CSCEC Science and Industry”), met with Esmond Moses, Vice Speaker of the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia (“FSM”), in the headquarters of the company. Both sides had in-depth discussion on strengthening cooperation in Micronesia.
Congress Senator Ellen Parikh, the FSM Ambassador to China Carlson D. Apis, Huang Zheng, the Chinese Ambassador to the FSM, and Deputy General Manager Xu Chongliang of CSCEC Science and Industry were present at the meeting.
Wang Hong welcomed Esmond and his delegation and thanked the FSM government for their trust and support to the business of CSCEC Science and Industry in the country. He said that green buildings have broad application prospects in the FSM and that CSCEC Science and Industry pays close attention to the social and economic development of the FSM. The company will give play to its strengths, actively pursue the “Belt and Road” initiative, make greater contributions to the social and economic development of the FSM, and create better benefits for both peoples.
Esmond first conveyed the greetings of President Panuelo and then spoke highly of the strength and performance of CSCEC. He also thanked CSCEC for its contribution to the construction of the FSM and showed his confidence in the successful completion of the high-quality and high-standard National Convention Center in the FSM by CSCEC. He said that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the FSM and that the two countries will exploit more cooperation opportunities as the bilateral relations are constantly strengthened.
Huang Zheng thanked Esmond and his delegation for visiting CSCEC Science and Industry and said that he was deeply impressed by the “tough character but benevolent heart” of its corporate culture. He noted that the cooperation between the two countries has reached an unprecedented level since the establishment of diplomatic relations 30 years ago. He was very pleased to witness the deepening friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He explicitly believed that CSCEC is able to promote the infrastructure development of the FSM, and he expected both sides to fully implement the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Panuelo during President Panuelo’s recent historic visit to China. He looked forward to more opportunities for cooperation in the active building of “Belt and Road”.
Esmond and his delegation also visited the Steel Structure Museum in Shenzhen and the display room and headquarters of CSCEC Science and Industry.
Relevant responsible persons from the FSM government and the Overseas Division, the South China Region, and the FSM Branch of CSCEC Science and Industry were present at the meeting.
2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the FSM. The FSM is an island country in the Central Pacific, with a land area of 702 square kilometers and an ocean exclusive economic zone of 2.98 million square kilometers. It stretches 2,500 kilometers from east to west and is composed of 607 islands. The country has a population of 105,500.
On October 18, 2019, the National Convention Center Project in the FSM along the “Belt and Road” was commenced by CSCEC Science and Industry. The FSM President Panuelo and the Ambassador Huang Zheng attended the commencement ceremony.
